The 18,000-square-foot (1,672-m2) Jesse Owens Pool facility in Los Angeles features a curved roof form over the pool instead of a conventional box. BOA Architecture, San Pedro, Calif., the architect on the project, selected metal decking and roofing due to its low maintenance and long life. Ontario, Calif.-based Curveline Inc.’s crimp-curving process was used to create a structural roof deck that was strong and aesthetically pleasing. The project utilized 20,267 square feet (1,883 m2) of “B” deck, 18-gauge galvanized metal decking.

The standing-seam roof was 24-gauge, 19 7/8-inch- (505-mm-) wide galvanized metal roof panels. AKG Construction Inc., Van Nuys, Calif., was the general contractor on the project. ASC Steel Deck, Sacramento, Calif., was the metal decking manufacturer, and Anning-Johnson Co., Industry, Calif., was the metal decking installer. The metal roofing manufacturer was Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp., Louisville, Ky.
