Designed by GreenLine Architecture in
Savannah, Ga., this private residence in Savannah pulls inspiration from the Caribbean islands. Although not located near the ocean, the residence sits along the Wilmington River and features more than 40,000 square feet of environmentally friendly, 0.8-mm, 22-gauge Double Lock Standing Seam Roof panels in Pre-weathered Graphite Gray from Woburn, Mass.- based RHEINZINK America Inc. The RHEINZINK panels were fabricated by MetalQuarters, Savannah, and installed by Integrated Construction and Restoration, Waverly, Ga. The RHEINZINK distributor on the project was MetalTech-USA, Peachtree City, Ga.
A primary design goal was to create a one-story house that suited the environment and also broke up the nearly 18,000 square feet of living area. This was achieved by creating a main house plus three guest houses. The main house includes the primary living functions along with two bedrooms, game room and media room. Other bedrooms and guest spaces were divided among the three guest houses, one of which is a 1930s dock house original to the site.
