The Zeidler Residence in Aptos, Calif., features 2,500 square feet (232 m2) of 24-gauge 0.028-inch (0.7-mm) preweathered Blue-Gray Zinc Composite Material from Alcoa Architectural Products, Eastman, Ga. Woburn, Mass.-based RHEINZINK America Inc. supplied the panel’s titanium zinc alloy.
The residence, located in a quiet beach community just south of Santa Cruz, is comprised of two buildings—the main house and guest cottage—aligned to form an interior courtyard with a lap pool and outdoor kitchen. The Alcoa RHEINZINK Zinc Composite Material joins a rich and elegant palette of materials that include stainless steel, burnished concrete block, steel-troweled stucco, castglass and walnut millwork.
Steven Ehrlich Architects, Culver City, Calif., was the architect, and Alumawall Inc., San Jose, Calif., was the fabricator and installer.
