Product Details
• 5,000 square feet (465 m2) of 0.024-aluminum Thermalite Omega Panels in Copper from Laminators Inc., Hatfield, Pa.
Project Fine Points:
• The architect, who was involved with the 25,000-square-foot
(2,323-m2) remodel of the original building in 1997, was commissioned in 2007 to provide corporate offices and a new image facing Fort Lowell Road.
• Since Mintec is a developer of mining industry software, it was decided that the building should reflect the mining industry. The building is a steel structure wrapped in copper panels with stone accents.
Why Metal?
• Mintec’s core industry falls squarely within the “Five Cs” of Arizona’s economy and the architects felt a metal material would best represent the client’s product.
• Copper was chosen for its natural beauty, its abundance, and the historical importance it has played in Arizona’s economy.
• In addition to being selected for its inherent beauty, copper panels give the building a high-tech finish that beautifully represents the hues of the Sonoran Desert environment.
• The client was also looking for a material that would provide a long life to the building’s exterior.
