The new Frankfort Township Center building in Frankfort, Ill., replaced the long out-grown 1850s farmhouse as part of a multiphase program that officials planned to update and expand township programs and services. The two-story facility houses the Lincoln-Way Communications 911 Emergency Response Center on the lower level that also serves as Homeland Security for Frankfort and neighboring towns of Mokena and New Lennox. On the main level, the administrative center features larger office areas, a state-of-the-art storage vault for the township assessor’s property records, a community meeting room, conference rooms and a spacious reception area. The community center has its own kitchen for the daily senior lunch program and other events, along with a small office for the Senior Activities staff. The township center boasts sophisticated technology, including light sensors, indirect lighting, drop-down projection screens tied into the computer system and an energy-efficient power system.

Completed in 2008, the building features metal wall panels from ATAS International Inc., Allentown, Pa. The project utilized 4,602 square feet (428 m2) of panels and 2,084 square feet (194 m2) of fl at stock of 0.032-aluminum Corra-Lok panels in Champagne. The architect was Wight & Co., Chicago; the contractor was Ruddy Brothers Inc., North Aurora, Ill.; and the distributor was ABC Supply Co., Aurora, Ill.
