ABC announces Excellence in Design Awards

Dobson Sheet Metal & Roofing of Mobile, Ala. and Copper Construction Company Inc. of Vidalia, Ga. were recently awarded American Buildings Co. Excellence in Design Awards. ABC’s Excellence in Design Awards recognizes builders and roofers for their innovation and distinction in design. Dobson Sheet Metal and Roofing received the 2010 Roof of the Year Award and was also named the Excellence in Design winner in a second Roofing category. These honors were awarded for the construction of Colony at the Grand in Fairhope, Ala. Copper Construction Company received an ABC Excellence in Design Award in the category of Roof Retrofit for Barracks Upgrade Project Building #25425 in Fort Gordon, Ga. The construction company was also awarded second runner up for the Roof of the Year for the same project. The highly anticipated Excellence in Design Awards competition is open to all authorized ABC Builders and Architectural Metal Systems (AMS) Roofers. Winners are selected by an independent panel of judges. This year, judges chose from more than 170 entries to select the best projects in each of the following categories: Agricultural; Church/Religious Center; Commercial; Government/Institutional; Green Building; Manufacturing/Industrial; Office; Recreation; Retail; Roofing; Self Storage; Transportation and Warehouse/Distribution. In 2010, a new category was added for the first time, Roof Retrofit. Winners and honorable mentions are announced for each category. The nominees then go on to compete for the Excellence in Design’s top two awards: Building of the Year and Roof of the Year.
