Allentown, Pa.-based ATAS International Inc. has added a Finn-Power E5 Compact Express Servo Electric Turret Punch Press to its headquarters facility.
The machine is designed for punching, notching, nibbling, forming and bending. It accommodates 48- by 96-inch sheets and can nibble complex shapes at a speed of 800 hits per minute. A punch force up to 33 tons is available for demanding jobs.
The company has also been enrolled
in the E-power Energy-Smart Business Honor Roll by PPL Electric Utilities. ATAS received this honor for installing energy-efficient lighting in its Allentown facility.
In the shop, 400 watt metal halides were replaced with T5 high-output lights. And in the offices and hallways, T12 fixtures were replaced with T8 and T5 fixtures. Motion sensors were also installed in the shop.
“The old fixtures were expensive to replace, getting harder to find and simply not efficient,” saysChris Mann, industrial electrician at ATAS. “This upgrade will save ATAS 229,513 kilowatts in the shop and 45,623 kilowatts in the office and hallways. That is a monetary savings of about $20,000 per year, with additional savings coming from the motion sensors.”
