CxAlloy’s latest iteration of CxAlloy Total Quality (TQ) has achieved Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) Compliance as part of the buildingSMART alliance January 2013 Challenge. CxAlloy TQ is now able to both import and export COBie-formatted Excel files. This allows for data exchange between design/BIM software and maintenance/CMMS software.
COBie provides a vendor-neutral interchange format that focuses on maintaining asset data from design through construction and into operations. This data includes equipment, systems, locations, and any related data. The COBie Challenge is a yearly challenge issued by the National Institute of Building Sciences. The purpose is to demonstrate different commercially available software products that can manage the same data in a standard format. Prior to the close of this challenge, CxAlloy TQ successfully completed the transition to become COBie compliant software. CxAlloy TQ was one of 12 software products competing in the challenge, and was the only software to include commissioning issues as part of the final deliverable. This perfect score means that CxAlloy TQ is able to seamlessly communicate with other COBie compliant software, and will import and export data precisely as required by COBie. As a result of this achievement, CxAlloy TQ was included in a presentation at the National Institute of Building Sciences’ annual conference, Building Innovation 2013.
