The winners of ATAS International Inc.’s 2022 Project of the Year awards competition have been announced. There are seven categories: commercial roofs, commercial walls, residential roofs, residential walls, accents, sustainable, and interiors. Each award recognizes projects in which products from Allentown, Pa.-based ATAS are incorporated into the building’s design and construction. First, second, and third place winners in each category are chosen by an independent panel of judges, comprised of ATAS advisory board members.

City Modern in Detroit receives the first-place honors for commercial roofs. Bronze standing seam panels are used as both roof panels and as wall cladding to create a striking continuous aesthetic for the building.

For the commercial walls category, 4400 Syracuse in Denver, takes first place. Metal shingles in black, hemlock green, and charcoal gray manufactured from 0.8 mm (0.032-in.) thick aluminum with a stucco embossed finish are installed.

Taking the first-place award in the residential roofs category is a private residence in Longport, N.J., with standing seam panels in silver. For the residential walls category, a private residence in Williamsburg, N.Y., takes first place. A combination of rainscreen panels and custom panels, both in charcoal gray, are used.

The Holualoa renovation in Tucson, Ariz., wins first place in the accents category. Custom exposed wall panels in slate gray are installed for this renovation project. For the sustainable category, the Minneapolis Bus Garage in Minneapolis, takes first place. Solar air heating wall panels, in 0.8 mm (0.032 in.) thick aluminum in black and classic bronze are installed.

A new studio office in Brewster, N.Y., wins first place in the interiors category. Corrugated panel in matte black is chosen for the ceiling of this project, which is complemented by the wood ceiling components.

Jim Bush, vice-president of sales and marketing at ATAS, says, “It was exciting to view all the projects submitted for this year’s competition, and it was great to see the project winners in all seven categories. Congratulations to all the architects, contractors, and distributors who were involved in these 2022 award-winning projects. As metal continues to grow in use for commercial and residential projects, and for both new construction and retrofit applications, we look forward to receiving even more exciting project nominations for the 2023 competition.”
