Sentrigard Metal Roofing Systems, Alpharetta, Ga., announced nine of its assemblies have received Miami-Dade County Approval. The nine assemblies also obtained a sustainable certification called Green Sustainable Attributes (GSA). These Sentrigard assemblies are the first metal roofing products to receive GSA. “These approvals are important to our customers in Florida, but they also impact our customers in the Mid-Atlantic who are regularly affected by hurricane-force winds,” explained Chris Payne, RRC, manager of technical services for roofing for Sentrigard Metal Roofing Systems and N.B. Handy Company, the distributor of the products. “The Miami-Dade County standards make certain assemblies can withstand the strongest winds in the United States. The high-velocity wind zone in Florida encompasses Miami-Dade and Broward counties, including wind speeds up to 150 mph. This means Sentrigard Metal Roofs are designed to not only withstand high winds from hurricanes but also other sources of inland devastation, such as tornadoes and wind-related weather events.” The nine assemblies approved by the Miami-Dade Building Code Compliance Office are:
