YKK AP America Inc. unveiled its latest product offerings – the YES SSG TUH Impact Resistant Vent Window and YPI 1500 Interior Access Panel Windows. The vent is ideal for architects who want to maintain architectural integrity of a building or take advantage of the value derived from façade construction. The YES SGG TUH seamlessly blends with the surrounding framing system to become virtually invisible when viewed from a distance.
“There is often a concern that integrating ventilation into a wall system will affect the aesthetic and value of a building,” said Gary Flemming, window business manager for YKK AP. “The YES SSG TUH Vent Window is YKK AP’s solution for those concerns. The flexible design allows for the vent window to blend seamlessly with the surrounding framing system, providing ventilation with the appearance of a fixed lite. Not to mention it’s impact resistant.”
The YES SSG TUH Vent Window delivers a standard product offering with sizes up to 36 inches by 60 inches. The thermally broken, impact resistant vent window is compatible with YKK AP’s most popular framing systems. The vent windows successfully passed both impact and cycle requirements of ASTM E 1886 and ASTM E 1996 and the test requirements for the Florida High Velocity Hurricane Zone (TAS 201, TAS 202, and TAS 203).
“YKK AP rigorously tests each vent window to ensure optimal impact performance,” said Greg Galloway, ProTek brand manager for YKK AP. “Because the YES SSG TUH vent windows are architectural rated, each window is tested for thermal and acoustical performance and air and water infiltration as well. The process confirms YKK AP is supplying the industry leading thermal and condensation resistance performance in an SSG Vent product.”
The YES SSG TUH Vent Window boasts an outstanding thermal performance, meeting the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code through Zone 6. Each vent window is glazed with 1-inch insulating units. The system also provides AW PG 65 architectural performance.
The vent windows are available in a broad range of architectural finishes.
In buildings where privacy and performance are necessary for occupant comfort, YKK AP now offers the YPI 1500 Interior Access Panel Windows for new and retrofit installations. The YPI 1500 is an interior secondary access window system that improves thermal performance, reduces sound infiltration and adds privacy and security with optional between-glass Venetian blinds. A low-maintenance option, the YPI 1500 windows can be integrated into most new and retrofit storefront, window wall and curtain wall systems with little disruption to building occupants.
The YPI 1500 Interior Access Panel Windows feature a minimal frame depth that will fit within existing window frame openings. A side-hinged access door is outfitted with custodial locks for access to 5/8″ or 1″ between-glass Venetian blinds, which are available in 16 colors. For easy use, each window is equipped with a slip-clutch blind tilt control knob, concealed blind raise-lower controls, and lift out and Pivot access panels. Each window system is available in a variety of architectural finishes including Anodized Plus® and Paint.
“Occupant comfort is a key consideration for architects today and YKK AP developed a window that would not only reduce sound and increase privacy, but would maintain the high-performance features that YKK AP products are known for,” said Flemming. “By equipping the windows with the ability to reduce thermal transmissions, the YPI 1500 YPI 1500 Interior Access Panel Windows are a solution to eliminate hot spots throughout the building or in one location.”
