The McNichols Co., Tampa, Fla., has launched a campaign, The Green Value of Metal, aimed at educating and encouraging customers to consider sustainable and recyclable hole products. McNichols offers a variety of sustainable and recyclable products in aluminum, plain steel and stainless steel that may help projects achieve a greener design and USGBC LEED credits and certification. McNichols emphasizes the possible availability of tax credits and points to the wing-like metal sunshade made of its Aluminum BarGrating that was used on the LEED-H Platinum certified Margarido House in Oakland Hills, Calif. McNichols has designed an online, interactive design tool called Virtual Desinger. The tool allows customers to see how a variety of MicNichols Designer Metals will appear in three settings: a stairway with infill panels, an office with custom furniture insets and wall dividers, as well as a parking garage with decorative security screens. With the click of a mouse, the settings immediately display how product selections will influence lighting, functionality, aesthetics and more.
