NOW Specialties Inc. and Umicore Building Products USA Inc. are leading a unique project with the very first VMZ-CM project. Annette Strauss Artist Square, located in the heart of downtown Dallas, is the initial project. NOW Specialties Inc. combined the use of both innovative zinc composite materials (VMZ-CM) along
with traditional aluminum composite materials. The VMZINC skin, a solid zinc-copper-titanium alloy, is a product of UBP, and the extrusions were manufactured by Mitsubishi Plastics Composites
America (ALPOLIC).
The Artist Square is the setting for numerous outdoor events from live concerts to multi-day festival events, accommodating at
least 5,000 people in a serene open-air setting. Annette Strauss has 2,813 square feet of zinc with a natural patina VMZ-CM aspect in diamond shaped panels with a random placement highlighting the contrast of the aluminum and zinc finishes. The panels have a 1/8-inch offset, leaving a 4- by 5-inch wide open cavity to create a very dramatic and dynamic wall.
NOW Specialties Inc. is proud to be a part of this unique project, and is just as proud to offer Umicore Building Product’s full VMZINC line, including profiled goods, flat sheet and composite material. UBP takes the guess out of in-house color matching with their original
Y-factor development that is located on the back of each good, that uses two separate cameras at different angles to do a reading on the coil inventory and assign absolute numerical values to each reading. VMZ QUARTZ-ZINC falls into a
Y-Factor range of 22 to 26.
