Insulation Systems and Vapor Retarders – April 2019

Insulation systems and vapor retarders featured in Metal Architecture’s April 2019 issue.

Covertech Fabricating Inc.

Covertech Fabricating’s rFOIL 2600 series reflective insulation is a layer of polyethylene bubbles bonded to and sandwiched between a radiant barrier metalized foil and white polyethylene sheet. It controls heat gain/loss and prevents interior condensation in all types of post- and metal-framed buildings. RFOIL 2600 series reflective insulation blocks 96 percent of radiant heat transfer. It contains UV inhibitors and anti-oxidants for long-term durability. It is tested to ASTM G-155 for UV resistance and facing surface degradation. It also has a Class 1/A fire rating, passes NFPA-286 full room burn test, and comes with a 10-year guarantee against UV degradation, de-lamination, cracking, peeling and flaking.

Therm-All Inc.

Therm-All offers its single-layer fiberglass insulation laminated to Lamtec Corp.’s WMP-VR-R Plus vapor retarder. The insulation is comprised of a white or black polypropylene film laminated to Owens Corning’s EcoTouch metal building insulation. EcoTouch metal building insulation is certified by the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA 202-96) and National Insulation Association. The single-layer fiberglass insulation laminated to WMP-VR-R Plus vapor retarder features Therm-All’s ConSealTab interlocking tab system. ConSealTab supports extended tabs along the edges of rolls, which improves moisture protection.

Thermal Design

Thermal Design’s Simple Saver System is an insulation and finishing system for roofs and walls in low-rise commercial buildings. The installed liner system also provides OSHA-compliant fall protection on roofs. A grid-work of tensioned UVMAX steel straps is installed below the bottom plane of purlins and fastened at primary structural members. Large, custom-sized Syseal fabric spans an entire bay, and is installed uninterrupted below purlins (supported by the steel strap platform) and sealed around the perimeter. It has a bottom layer of thick, uncompressed, un-faced fiberglass insulation between purlins, and top layer installed perpendicular to, and atop, purlins. Multiple colors are available, and Simple Saver System has a 10-year limited material warranty.
