To match materials with another of the owner’s properties, Shearer Design and Associates designed Charles Smith and Sons Funeral Home with a standing seam roof system in PVDF Evergreen and white stone exterior walls.
Dobson Contractors Inc. installed 20,000 square feet of McElroy Metal Inc.’s Medallion-Lok standing seam system. McElroy factory formed the panels, which were delivered to the jobsite on a flatbed truck. The panels were then removed from the truck with a forklift and staged at around the 14,000-square-foot building. The panels, some as long as 50 feet, were lifted by hand to the roof for installation.
To ensure there are no high points or low points in the roofing, Dobson Contractors made sure the deck was flat and level, which required shimming in some areas. Additionally, due to numerous valleys, Dobson Contractors also spent time measuring and hand-cutting angles on the panels.
