Church utilizes metal building system

American Buildings Co., Eufaula, Ala., supplied the metal building, roof and walls for the 13,500-square-foot (1,254-m2) Highlands Church of Christ in Lakeland, Fla. Completed in March 2008, the project utilized a 100-foot- (30- m-) long by 128-foot- (39-m-) wide rigid frame metal building with 18-foot (5-m) eave heights.

The building features 13,000 square feet (1,208 m2) of Standing Seam 360 roof panels in Light Bronze, a 70 percent PVDF resin supplied as Kynar 500 or Hylar 500 by BASF, Florham Park, N.J. The 24-gauge standing-seam roof panels were placed over 9 inches (229 mm) of insulation and thermal blocks. The metal wall system is Long Span III in Warm White, a SmartKote 70 percent PVDF resin supplied as Kynar 500 or Hylar 500 by BASF. The building also features 12-inch (305-mm) aluminum perforated soffit liner panels around the exterior.

The architect was Furr & Wegman Architect PA, Lakeland; the general contractor was Rodda Construction Inc., Lakeland; and the installer/erector was C&C Construction & Fabrication Inc., Lakeland.
