A.R.J. Inc., Las Vegas, installed approximately 2,000 square feet of 12-inch, 24-gauge PAC-CLAD Flush Panels in Matte Black from Elk Grove Village, Ill.-based Petersen Aluminum Corp. at the main entrance. The 28-foot panels were fabricated with stiffening beads and installed in a segmented radius application as an integral part of the signage design. Additionally, 600 square feet of PAC-CLAD flat stock was used for flashing and trim.

Andy Russo Jr., owner of A.R.J. Inc., says his company completed other casino projects in Las Vegas and used PAC-CLAD products for more than 20 years. To minimize disruption, work at The D Casino was done between 2 a.m. and noon.

“The name of the game here is on-time delivery,” Russo says. “With casinos, everything is a push. They believe customers won’t come into a place that appears to be under construction. So they want things done fast with no delays. Petersen has always been great about reliable delivery.”

Russo says the site was a challenge because they had to work around structures used in the Freemont Street Experience including large, overhead speakers and a zip line. “And with the long panels, we were working 50 feet in the air,” Russo says. “But the job turned out great. It delivers a great look in a very competitive environment.”

The “D” in The D Casino stands for downtown and is a reference to a nickname for the property’s majority owner, Derek Stevens. The two-level casino has a high-energy environment on the first floor and a retro Vegas space on the second floor.
