Working with the design team from Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc., White Plains, N.Y., Hunter Douglas Contract, Norcross, Ga., helped createthe signature porte cochere for the new chain of aloft hotels. The project utilized Hunter Douglas’ 150F exterior metal ceilings and exterior soffits.
“During its initial processes and ongoing design stages for aloft, Starwood wanted a visible and memorable exterior for the new hotel chain,” said Kelly Palmer, national account manager for Hunter Douglas Contract. “The aloft porte cochere and higher swoof designs became a surface to display a colorful, iconic scheme that was unique to the brand. The design team approached us [and]together we collaboratively developed the distinctive 13-color scheme design. We then provided a 6-inch- [152-mm-] wide, linear exterior soffi t product that suited the architectural and wind pressure design requirements for these areas [Lexington, Ma., and Philadelphia].”
