The Great Lakes Naval Museum & Memorial in Muskegon, Mich., was completed in June 2008, and utilizes a metal building, roof and walls from American Buildings Co., Eufaula, Ala. The 28,534-square-foot
(2,651-m2) building was made with single-slope and rigid frame metal building systems, resulting in a 110- by 150-foot (34- by 46-m) building with 24-foot (7-foot) eave heights. Utilizing a pre-engineered metal building allowed the project costs to be cut by $400,000.
American Buildings also supplied 16,500 square feet (1,533 m2) of 24-gauge standing-seam II metal roof panels in Aluminum with a 70 percent PVDF resin supplied as Kynar 500 or Hylar 500 by PPG Industries, Pittsburgh. The project also utilized American Buildings’ Architectural wall panels with multipanel accents in Blue Gray, Pearl Gray and Regal Blue trim. The wall coatings are a SmartKote 70 percent PVDF resin supplied as Kynar 500 or Hylar 50 by PPG Industries.
Stephen Parker, Muskegon, was the architect, and Hughes Buildings Inc., Muskegon, was the general contractor and builder.
