New theater is designed for local art groups

Part of a large urban cultural and business district development, the city-owned Knight Theater in Charlotte, N.C., is designed for local art groups. It is physically connected and shares a pre-function space with the Bechtler Modern Art Museum, one of three newly developed museums in the art district. The 75,000-square-foo (6,967-m2) theater features a 1,150-seat multipurpose theater, 350-seat lecture and broadcasting auditorium, in addition to a food and beverage catering kitchen.

Bristol, Conn.-based Morin Corp. supplied 33,000 square feet (3,066 m2) of its 22-gauge, 7/8- inch (22-mm), C-29 exposed fastener wall panels with a two-coat Mica finish in 9987 Bronze II. Millennium Tiles, Elkhorn, Wis., supplied 6,600 square feet (613 m2) of its Type 304 stainless-steel metal wall panels in Natural. Burnsville, Minn.-based Protean Construction Products Inc. supplied 2,000 square feet (186 m2) of its 0.16-inch (4-mm) ACM-100 Wet Joint Panel System, FR aluminum composite material with a Kynar finish.

TVS & Associates, Atlanta, was the architect; Rodgers Builders, Charlotte, was the general contractor; and Architectural Products Specialist Inc., Loganville, Ga., was the supplier.
