Maryville, Tenn.-based Clayton Homes, a manufacturer of mobile homes, is entering the market of environmentally friendly prefab homes with its new i-House.
Clayton Homes CEO, Kevin Clayton, directed a team of architects to design and specify a home radically different from anything available, incorporating as many green and energy-efficient products as possible, resulting in the i-House.
Lancaster, Pa.-based Fabral supplied the i-House with roof and wall panels. The one-bedroom i-House I utilizes approximately 500 square feet (46 m2) of 2 1/2-inch (64- mm) corrugated wall panels and 900 square feet (84 m2) of 1 1/2-inch (38-mm) SSR roof panels. For the two-bedroom i-House II, approximately 900 square feet of wall panels and 1,200 square feet (115 m2) of roof panels are used. The Galvalume panels were chosen for aesthetics, durability and low maintenance.
Ready Solar Inc., San Mateo, Calif., provided its Solar in a Box solar PV system for customers who want the option of solar panels on the i-House. Additionally, the home includes no-VOC paint, a tankless water heater, high-efficiency heat pump, programmable thermostat, water saving dual-flush toilets and more.
