St. Louis Science Center in St. Louis

St. Louis is one of the top five science centers in the U.S. The science center added a 13,000-square-foot addition to accommodate traveling exhibitions that will gain the interest of its nearly 1.2 million annual visitors. Designed by PGAV Destinations, St. Louis, the addition features 20,000 square feet of Indianapolis- based Citadel Architectural Products Inc.’s Citadel Envelope 2000 Rout & Return (RR) system metal composite material panels in Shasta White and Silver Gray. The addition replaces an air-supported exhibit dome that was nearing the end of its life span. The project also included a distinctive rooftop terrace to be used for outdoor educational programs and special events. The construction manager was Alberici Constructors, St. Louis, and the Citadel sales representative was Manchester Hackett
& Associates, St. Louis.

The Citadel MCM panels were fabricated by Castle Metal Works, Chicago, and installed by Kuenz Heating & Sheet Metal, St. Charles, Mo. “The job was fairly straight-forward,” says Ron Bradley, vice president and project manager of Kuenz Heating & Sheet Metal, “although we had to deal with many different panels heights because the seams had to align with the aluminum plate on the existing building. We did all of the field measurements and supplied a fab sheet for each panel to the fabricator. The only other challenge was the half-round vertical accent columns-keeping those in shape is always a little tricky. But the job really turned out great.”
