Completed fall 2008, a newly constructed private residence near Philadelphia features a TCS II standing- seam roof from Follansbee, W.Va.-based Follansbee that works well with the home’s stone exterior.
The homeowner originally considered copper and zinc as roofing options, but chose Follansbee TCS II for its durability, long-lasting performance and sleek aesthetic appeal. Additionally, the ternecoated stainless steel lends a timeless look to the traditional residence.
“We selected TCS II for its clean lines, beautiful weathered look, minimal maintenance requirements and longevity,” explained Charles Loomis, vice president for Charles Loomis Chariss McAfee Architects, Philadelphia. “The design additionally dictated the need for a solderable roofing material. TCS II satisfied that requirement.”
The project features approximately 4,000 square feet (372 m2) of TCS II that was installed as a standing-seam roof, along with snow guards from McHenry, Ill.-based Snow Gem Inc., to provide a barrier against snow and ice.
Spencer Abbot Builders, Edgemont, Pa., was the general contractor, and Willistown Contractors, Downington, Pa., was the roofing contractor.
