A custom metal screenwall interior sunshade system supplied by DAMS Inc. (formerly Doralco Architectural Metals), Alsip, Ill., was installed across the glass curtainwall behind the check-in area on the second floor of the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Twisted blades work as a sunshade and create an appearanceof motion as visitors pass by. Additionally, multicolored lights cast up from a light cove at the base create a look of movement at night. The sunshade was hinged at the top so windows could be accessed for cleaning. BauerLazota Studio, Chicago, was the architecture firm, and McHugh Construction Co., Chicago, was the general contractor.
