TELUS Spark Science Center in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is a large 153,000-square-foot exhibition space and the first new science center to open in Canada in more than 25 years. “This truly is a great addition to our community,” says Naheed Nenshi, mayor of Calgary. “Investing in innovative education resources that serve all Calgarians is very important.” It was important to create a high-performance, aesthetically pleasing building. As a result, approximately 52,500 square feet of Optimo Smooth Series insulated panels from Kingspan Insulated Panels Inc., Deland, Fla., were installed.

Optimo panels give the building an attractive finish with high R-values that provide the thermal performance and energy efficiency also required. “We are deeply grateful to all our dedicated partners and supporters who have helped us to become much more than a ‘world of science,'” states Jennifer Martin, CEO and president of TELUS.

DIALOG (formerly known as Cohos Evamy), Toronto, served as the architect, and CANA Construction, Calgary, served as the general contractor.
