DBCI Launches Curl-Lok

dbci curl-lok metal construction This March, rolling sheet door manufacturer DBCI announced a revolutionary new door product called Curl-Lok. The new Curl-lok door is constructed out of removable panels with engineered curls along the edges that lock into place instead of seam together, making it the first rolling sheet door that can be quickly repaired on site without any specialty tools.

“This is a huge advancement for our customers,” says DBCI Vice President of Operations Larry Miller. “In the past, the only options for a damaged door was to either live with it or replace the entire thing. Now damaged panels can be changed out at significantly less cost.”

The advantages of Curl-Lok don’t end at the door. Shipping panels for repair work instead of an entire door will reduce associated freight costs and increase delivery speed. DBCI also expects many customers will keep replacement panels on-site, which will virtually eliminate down-time.

“Curl-Lok is simply a more cost-efficient door,” offers DBCI General Manager Roc Hughes. “Door dealers will have a new solution for their customers that also intruduces a completely new market: sheet door repair.”

Curl-Lok is the result of over three years of development and testing. “DBCI is a company that lives and breathes innovation,” says Bray Allen, R&D at DBCI. “We realized that one component of the rolling sheet door our industry has taken for granted is the curtain itself. We saw that as an opportunity. The result is an efficient and dependable door unlike anything else in its category.”

dbci curl-lok metal constructionDBCI partnered with The Bradbury Group, Moundridge, Kan., to develop a manufacturing process for the patented Curl-Lok panels. “Our association with DBCI dates back many years,” says Ryan Durst, Sr. Manager of Sales & Marketing at Bradbury, “The first major innovative project we joined together to complete was an automated commercial and mini-guide line. The success of that project led to this tight tolerance design Curl-Lok which is the second Bradbury supplied automated system DBCI uses to manufacture their products. We look forward to continuing to work on future innovations DBCI will undertake to advance the industry.”

The product is supported by a website (www.curl-lok.com) where customers can find demonstration video and product information. A new “Change is easy” marketing campaign announces the innovation to the public in trade publications across the country.
