MBCI Releases Double E-Lok Hi-Thermal Clip

MBCI, Houston,Texas, now offers the Double-Lok Hi-Thermal Clip to accommodate new energy code requirements. Because energy efficiency code requirements are becoming more stringent, many climate zones now require six inches of fiberglass insulation in combination with a one-inch thick thermal spacer. Using a standard clip results in over-compression of the fiberglass batt and leads to seaming and aesthetic problems. The Double-Lok Hi-Thermal Clip holds the MBCI Double-Lok panel two inches above the purlin or joist. This two-inch space will allow for six inches of fiberglass insulation with a one-inch thick thermal spacer or up to 12 inches of fiberglass insulation without a thermal spacer. The resulting assembly will enable the roof to achieve the U-Value of 0.065 BTU/hr-sf-°F without bowing the roof panels or creating seaming issues, meeting ASHRAE 90.1 specifications when R-19 (6”) insulation is required.
