“The Solar Sandwich, Integration of Metal Roofing and Solar Energy Technology,” will be topic of a seminar to be held for Tampa, Florida area architects April 13 and 14 in Tampa. The Solar Sandwich seminar will be held from noon to 5 p.m. each day and will feature an explanation of how LEED-compliant cool metal roofing is the pivotal component for BIPV solar photovoltaic laminates and a glycol-based solar thermal system. The session will include examples of how the systems work together on existing residential and commercial structures and how the three can earn more than 20 LEED credits and save between 20 to 80% on a building’s energy costs. The sessions meet requirements for one AIA HSW continuing education unit with sustainability and include lunch. Englert, Inc., a leading manufacturer of standing seam metal roofing systems and rainware, is sponsoring the seminars. Frank Hogan of S-5 will also address the use of metal roofing clips used expressly for attaching crystalline photovoltaic panels and other rooftop components to standing seam. Area architects and architectural firms interested in participating in the seminar can contact Charitie Barnes of Englert at c.barnes@englertinc.com.
