MCA familiarizes architects with IMPs

The Metal Construction Association (MCA), based in Glenview, Ill., now offers a guideline for choosing insulated metal panel wall and roof systems in metal construction applications. “Selection Guideline for Insulated Metal Panels” is available at no charge on the MCA website as a downloadable PDF document.

“This tool gives a brief overview of insulated metal panel products for those architects, specifiers and owners who are not familiar with them,” said Doug Pickens, vice president of marketing for Lewisville, Texas-based Metl-Span LLC and co-chair of MCA’s IMP Initiative.

“It’s a great resource for learning all the features and benefits of IMPs,” said Pickens.

The guide describes what insulated metal panels are, where they are used and how they compare to other systems. Product testing and certification is detailed, as well as design parameters and installation facts.

The 32-page guideline was researched and written by the MCA Insulated Metal Panel Initiative and includes photos of applications, and descriptive schematics and detailed illustrations.

A complete list and descriptions of MCA’s highly respected technical materials are available at www.metalconstruction.org/pubs.
