This summer marks the 10-year anniversary of the Cool Roof Rating Council, Oakland, Calif., which was established in 1998 for the purpose of creating a fair, accurate and credible rating system for the radiative properties of roofi ng products (solar reflectance and thermal emittance). This year marks several other accomplishments for the council, including reaching 1,000 products in its Rated Products Directory and the launch of a 10-year planning process and accreditation by the American National Standards Institute, Washington, D.C. as an “Accredited Standards Developer.” The council was founded with 25 members, and today it has 176 members.
