Building Transparency will showcase EC3 2.0 at the Greenbuild International Conference + Expo, October 20–23 in New York City. Attendees can preview the platform and join its beta at the Autodesk booth (#1137). They will also introduce a membership program, share progress on its Open Data for Climate Initiative (ODCi), and participate in Greenbuild programming on digital material data.
“Greenbuild marks an important milestone as we advance EC3 and the open data infrastructure needed to drive meaningful embodied carbon action,” said Alison Kinn Bennett, executive director of Building Transparency. “We’re excited to share what’s ahead and invite the industry to help shape this next chapter.”
Building Transparency notes that EC3 2.0 is a complete rebuild with improved data quality, expanded international coverage, and upgraded tools. The Find & Compare Materials beta is open to all, with more features coming in phases.
A new membership program will help fund EC3’s development while core tools remain free, neutral, and open access. Members receive recognition, premium features, roadmap input, and access to insights and forums.
Building Transparency will update attendees on ODCi, which is developing verified life cycle assessment data across 58 material categories and seven regions. Its Autodesk Foundation-funded pilot covers cement, concrete, timber and steel, with datasets planned for open access through platforms including ECO Portal and EC3.
Alison Kinn Bennett will join “In a New York Minute: Innovators Bridging the Digital Materials Divide” on October 20. The session is part of the “Accelerating the Adoption of Low Embodied Carbon Materials” Summit.
