To create an unobstructed interior layout inside the Jacksonville Bus Station, Pond and Co. designed it with a clear span, rigid frame metal building system. To construct the bus station, Harrell Construction Co. Inc., general contractor for the project, erected 65 tons of Varco Pruden Buildings’ metal building system. For the roof, Harrell Construction installed Varco Pruden Buildings’ 24-gauge standing seam roof system. Harrell Construction insulated the roof with Owens Corning’s OptiLiner Banded Liner System, which provides an R-32 R-value.
For walls, Harrell Construction vertically and horizontally installed two profiles of Kingspan Insulated Panels Inc.’s insulated metal panels (IMPs) in three colors, which provide an R-21 R-value. The company installed 3-inch-thick KS40 Flat Profile IMPs in Night Horizon, Slate Grey and Regal White, and 3-inch-thick KS24 Flat Profile IMPs in Night Horizon, Slate Grey and Regal White.
The Jacksonville Bus Station is owned by Jacksonville Transportation Authority and operated by Greyhound Lines Inc. and Megabus. The bus terminal houses a waiting area, ticketing offices, cafeteria and nine bus bays. The building is 10,000 square feet and, with the covered bus parking space, totals 18,000 square feet.
