How to Complete an Accurate COMcheck™ Building Envelope Compliance Report: A Live Demo with The Code Man
Thur., Oct. 26, 2023 2:15pm ET / 11:15am PT
More information coming soon
COMcheck™ is the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s commercial energy compliance tool that helps architects, builders, designers, and contractors determine whether new commercial or high-rise residential buildings, additions, and alterations meet the requirements of the IECC and ASHRAE Standard 90.1, as well as several state-specific codes.
In this live demonstration, Bill Beals will illustrate how to generate an accurate COMcheck compliance report, with specific emphasis on the building envelope. Bill will also deconstruct important COMcheck terminology, review key pain points faced by architects and builders, and, ultimately, help attendees become confident in producing an accurate COMcheck building envelope compliance report.

Understanding Pre-Painted Metal
Thur., Nov. 9, 2023 2:15pm ET / 11:15am PT
More information and register here
What Is Pre-Painted Metal?
The surface coating is the first line of defense in pre-painted metal, and one of the most important elements to consider as part of a metal purchase. Selecting the right coating, finish, and paint system can affect product lifespan, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal. This course discusses the composition of pre-painted metal, its application, and performance, and examines the building and environmental factors that may influence the type of paint system specified.
Attendees can earn 1 AIA Learning Unit. Certificates of completion will be available.

Powder and Liquid FEVE Coatings for Curtain Wall & Other Architectural Applications
Presented Thurs., May 4, 2023
This webinar was presented May 4, 2023. In this one-hour course, we discovered the strengths and advantages of FEVE fluoropolymer topcoats for curtain walls, windows, and other architectural elements, as well as maintenance re-coating of existing finishes. We evaluated the lifetime effects of weathering on different coatings and review coating performance tests including accelerated weathering and real-time weathering. We also assessed the life-cycle cost advantages and sustainability benefits of FEVE topcoats despite their higher initial cost compared to other topcoat formulations.

Cladding Safety in Light of Global Fires
Wed., Dec. 15, 2021 2:15pm ET / 11:15am PT
A panel of experts discussed differences between North American building code and buildings caught in catastrophic global fire events. Particular focus was given to FPA 285 and how it promotes the International Building Code’s goal of Life and Safety.
This webinar’s purpose was to build trust and understanding of value in the NFPA 285 Multi-Story Fire test for the overall fire performance of a wall assembly in the real world. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) was all about safety and no threat to life, and the NFPA 285 tests the construction wall assembly containing combustible materials.
