Submissions are now open for the 2024 edition of the North American Copper in Architecture (NACIA) Awards. Presented by the Copper Development Association (CDA), the NACIA Awards celebrate projects across the U.S. and Canada that feature architectural copper and copper alloys including roof systems, facades, and wall systems, as well as custom-fabricated elements.

Architects, engineers, and contractors can submit their current architectural projects for CDA’s NACIA Awards by April 22. Projects of any size and type are eligible, so long as they feature architectural elements of copper, brass, or bronze; are located in the U.S. or Canada; and were completed within the last three years. Entries include a project description and high-resolution photos of the finished building.

“The enduring beauty, versatility, and long life of copper continue to make it a leading material for exterior and interior applications,” says Larry Peters, CDA’s project manager and architectural specialist. “For over 15 years, the NACIA Awards program has honored excellence in copper design and craftsmanship.”

Judges evaluate projects on integration of copper alloys into the overall building, excellence in innovation and/or restoration, and sustainable building strategies. Winning projects receive an award, extensive exposure in architectural and construction magazines and other media, and recognition in CDA’s educational and industry outreach programs.

Last year’s winners included examples of both restoration work and new construction including an iconic cathedral in New York City, academic buildings in Toronto, and residences in both Colorado and Virginia.
