“Architecture is ultimately about experience. It is about how a place is felt, inhabited, and remembered,” says Cecilia Uriburu, principal at the newly renamed Pathe Studio Architects. Formerly Prescott Muir and Associates, this Salt Lake City architecture practice has upheld these experience-based architectural beliefs since its founding in 1976.
The new name reflects an evolution in the firm’s identity and expression while preserving the principles that have guided five decades of civic, cultural, and institutional work across the Mountain West.
When discussing the rebrand, firm principal Jay Lems reflects, “We are carrying forward the discipline, rigor, and care that have always defined the firm. Pathe gives that continuity a new voice.”
A message stands out on the studio’s website: “We do not pursue spectacle. We pursue coherence.” This philosophy of belonging paves the way for Pathe’s pursuit of designs that perform for their community over time.

The firm has built a distinguished portfolio of civic and cultural work throughout the region. Notable projects include the Department of Visual Arts Building at Weber State University, the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, the USTAR Sorensen Molecular Biotechnology Building at the University of Utah, the Weber County Library Headquarters-Southwest Branch, and the restoration of the historic Zions Bank in Vernal, Utah.
The firm continues to operate from its studio in Salt Lake City, serving clients across the Mountain West.
