Copper Projects Recognized

The Copper Development Association, New York, in collaboration with the Canadian Copper & Brass Development Association, Toronto, has announced the recipients of the North American Copper in Architecture Awards program. A historic hotel landmark, a cathedral reminiscent of the Middle Ages and a private guesthouse in New York’s Adirondack State Forest were among the architectural projects honored for their innovative use of copper and copper alloys. Projects were selected from two categories: Historic Restoration and New Construction. The awardees for Historic Restoration include:
• The Plaza Hotel, New York: James R. Gainfort Consulting Architects, New York; Nicholson &Galloway, Glean Head, N.Y.; Eagle One Roofing, Astoria, N.Y. • La basilique Notre-Dame de Montreal, Montréal: Architects Faucher Aubertin Brodeur Gauthier, Montreal, and Les couvertures St-Léonard Inc., Montreal
• Library of Parliament, Ottawa: Ogilvie & Hogg, Ottowa; Les Architectes Desnoyers Mercure & Associés, Montreal; Spencer R. Higgens, Architect Inc., Toronto; Heather & Little Ltd., Markham, Ontario, Canada The awardees for New Construction include:
• Stuckeman Family Building, Penn State University, The School of Architecture & Landscape Architecture, University Park, Pa.: WTW Architects, Pittsburgh, and Overland Partners Architects, San Antonio
• Canadian War Museum, Ottawa: Moriyama & Teshima Architects, Toronto; Griffi th Rankin Cook Architects, Ottawa; Flynn Canada Ltd., Mississauga, Ontario
• Inverted Guest House, Lake George, N.Y.: Peter L. Gluck & Partners, New York
