Class A baseball stadium

Completed in May 2008, the Southern Maryland Baseball Stadium in Waldorf, Md., is the new home of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Class A Minor League team, owned by Peter Kirk of Maryland Baseball LLC. The Maryland Stadium Authority assisted Charles County in the design and construction of the multipurpose sports stadium.

Built on approximately 40 acres (16 hectares), the 4,100- seat stadium took about one year to complete. The stadium features skyboxes, a picnic area, children’s play area, wide concourses, generous number of restroom facilities, security, first aid stations, ATMs, fan information center and concession stands. Opening night was May 2, 2008.

Allentown, Pa.-based ATAS International Inc. supplied 10,235 square feet (951 m2) of 0.032-aluminum Belvedere wall panels in Sandstone and 10,848 square feet (1,008 m2) of 0.032-aluminum Belvedere wall panels in Redwood.

The stadium owner is Charles County, La Plata, Md. Tetra Tech Inc., Newark, Del., was the architect; Skanska USA Building Inc., Rockville, Md., was the general contractor; J.P. Park Associates Inc., Springfield, Va., was the contractor; and Bradco Supply Corp., Lorton, Va., was the distributor.
