Colorful metal panels welcome children to outpatient care center

The new 20,000-square-foot (1,858-m2) Dayton Children’s Outpatient Care Center- Springboro in Miamisburg, Ohio, offers pediatric urgent care, medical imaging and rehabilitative services. The facility, located on an 11-acre (4.4-hectare) site is LEED Certified.

Holland, Mich.-based Dri-Design supplied approximately 4,700 square feet (437 m2) of its0.08-aluminum wall panels in Light Green, Marlin Blue and Dark Green/Juniper as a key desigelement. Large, backlit smiling children’s faces were inserted in the Dri-Design cladding.

“Part of the design challenge was to give the single story building some mass to make it more visible from the nearby interstate highway,” said David Glover, project architect with Pinnacle Architects, Dayton, Ohio. “The backlit images of the children helped make the building more welcoming along with the gables that are identified with the main campus in Dayton. The gables also help create a non-intimidating residential feel. We felt metal panel would be a good way to introduce color onto the façade and would provide a nice contemporary contrast against the brick.”

JMD Architectural Products Inc., Tipp City, Ohio, was the installer, and Spohn Associates, Indianapolis, was the distributor for the Dri-Design panels.
