Community center meshes metal with brick and stone

Completed in May 2008, the 9,174-square-foot (852-m2) Michael J. Mannatt Community Center in Brooklyn, Iowa, utilized Oklahoma City-based Star Building Systems’ StarShield Roof System in Snow White, along with the StarMark Wall System in Saddle Tan. Additionally, the project utilized Star’s SSB and SWE structural systems in conjunction with brick veneer and cast stone. Conventional construction was used in the lobby and main entry vestibule. Super Saver roof insulation from L&L Insulations in Ankeny, Iowa, was installed for energy efficiency, and there is a geothermal HVAC system. Greg Wattier, Des Moines, Iowa, was the architect, and Bushong Construction Co. Inc., Montezuma, Iowa, was the builder and steel erector.
