Completed in November 2008, the Community Wellness Center in Torrington, Conn., features an Ultra-Dek roof from Metallic Building Co., Houston. Additionally, the endwall and sidewall panels are Metallic’s PBR panels. The medical and dental facility’s exterior walls are framed with 8-inch (203-mm) light-gauge studs to allow for the minimum 9-inch (229-mm) fiberglass insulation with an additional 2 inches (51 mm) of rigid insulation at the masonry exteriors. To be environmentally conscious, the project also features a high-efficiency HVAC and electrical system, R-30 roof insulation and low-volume plumbing fixtures.
Joseph Alicata, East Hartland, Conn., was the architect;RJB Contracting Inc., Torrington, was the general contractor and builder; and New England Steel Erectors, Litchfield, Conn., was the erector and roofing contractor.
