Designed for people who relish lakeside living, Waterside at Norris Lake in Knoxville, Tenn., is a gated community that features a pool, clubhouse, walking trails and green space/recreation areas. The community centerpiece is the Waterside Marina, a full-service, 400-boat slip marina, complete with a restaurant built over the lake, and a ship store for residents’ boating needs. Slips can accommodate up to 90-foot (27-m) houseboats.
The development consists of one-, two- and three-bedroom villas. The Towers, consisting of three condominium buildings of six stories each, with covered parking underneath, is slated for construction. The final phase of the project will be a seven-story, 28-unit building on the peninsula point with huge wrap-around decks, elevators opening into the actual living space, and mountain and lake views. Every condo has its own boat slip.
The project utilized 32,000 square feet (2,973 m2) of Englert Series 1000 standing-seam panels for the villas and an additional 30,000 square feet (2,787 m2) for the roofs on the four marina buildings. The 24-gauge, 16-inch- (406-mm-) wide panels in Hartford Green are from Perth Amboy, N.J.-based Englert Inc. The metal roof was chosen for its durability and as a unifying element for the various components of the project.
Fugleberg Koch Architects, Orlando, Fla., was the architect, and Norman Sheet Metal, Powell, Tenn., was the installer.
