Completed in June 2007, the health sciences building at the University of Missouri at Kansas City utilized 20,000 square feet (1,858 m2) of Mapes 0.040-aluminum R-insulated composite panels with a 70 percent Kynar finish in Metallic Chromium Gray by Mapes Architectural Canopies, Lincoln, Neb., with a Corelite high density polyethylene substrate, a 3# density polystyrene core and a smooth aluminum exterior. Carrying an R-value of 5.0, the panels contributed to the project receiving LEED certification. Atlas Glazing, Pleasant Valley, Mo., installed the panels.
