The newly expanded 519,000-square-foot (48,215-m2) Winstar World Casino and Hotel in Thackerville, Okla., is one of the five largest casinos in the world, and the largest in the state. The casino features a structural steel auditorium— The Global Events Center—offering world-class entertainment in the best showplace between Dallas and Oklahoma City. The Global Events Center at Winstar is the region’s finest venue with 2,800 seats and state-of-the-art lights and sound systems, attracting big names such as Kenny G, B.B. King and Willie Nelson, as well as hosting multimillion dollar blackjack and poker tournaments, featuring players such as Annie Duke, Greg Raymer, TJ Cloutier and Kido Pham.
Named Winstar World Casino and Hotel because five cities from around the world are highlighted, the goal was to offer patrons a sense and spirit of adventure from a gaming, entertainment and cultural standpoint. Patrons can enter the casino and be transported to the outposts of Beijing, London, Madrid, Paris and Rome, all under one roof.
The 297,931-square-foot (27,678-m2) addition was built using a metal building and 26-gauge PBU wall panels from Houston-based Metallic Building Co. Construction on the $4.6 million project began in June 2007 and was completed on Dec. 31, 2008. Chicksaw Enterprises, Ada, Okla., was the design-builder on the project. Metallic was able to complete the project on time and on budget.
