The Metro Transit Authority of Harris County has built this first of four planned facilities to assist in reducing the traffic congestion in Houston. The project goal is to create parking and bus transportation to ease the amount of cars on the roads of Houston. It will have a 300 multi-living unit, restaurants, commercial and retail facilities in its attempt to be a self-contained living area.
CDA Architects, Houston, chose metal for its environmental friendliness and the low maintenance. In addition, metal helped the project meet LEED requirements that the MTA wanted to comply with.
The project used approximately 30,000 square feet (2,787 m2) of the Houston-based MBCI’s BattenLok HS panel. The panels were curved on the job site to ensure exact radius. Panels were 24-gauge Galvalume coated in the Signature 300 (PVDF) in Sandstone Metallic.
The general contractor was Axiom General Contractor, Houston, and the metal installer was PRC Roofing Co. Inc., Houston.
