The Ralph Wright Natatorium at the University of Louisville in Kentucky was named after the university’s first swim coach and serves as the men’s and women’s swimming and diving venue. It was also designed to benefit the student body as a place for recreation, fitness and instruction.
The 41,000-square-foot (3,809-m2) facility utilizes 28,430 square feet
(2,641 m2) of Moon Township, Pa.-based CENTRIA’s StyleRib metal roof panels and 2,981 square feet (277 m2) of IW-14A metal wall panels, both in Fluorofinish Chromium Gray. Style-Rib Louvers were also used.
The facility features an eight-lane, 164-foot (50-m) competition pool; office space; a large meeting/hospitality room; and separate locker rooms for the public and team members. Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf Architects, Indianapolis, was the architect on the project. J.C. Industries, Louisville, was the dealer, and Whittenburg Construction Co., Louisville, was the general contractor.
