Florida International UniversityAs part of a university-wide commitment to green building, Florida International University College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Miami was designed as the university’s first LEED building, earning LEED Silver certification. Completed in December 2009, the 115,000-square-foot building serves all seven departments of the CNHS-nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, communication science and disorders, health information management, athletic training and health sciences-and includes eight simulator laboratories where students learn under real-life, real-time scenarios. The building houses 15 teaching and lab rooms, two 150-seat classrooms, five conference rooms and two auditoriums. The building will become the gateway for the university’s next phase of growth, a Medical Corridor at the University Park Campus.
