Zinc panels provide shelter

MetalTech-USA, Peachtree City, Ga., supplied the zinc panels from RHEINZINK, Woburn, Mass., for shelter buildings at five Atlanta area Park n’ Ride lots. The shelters, known as “Fare Systems Shelter Buildings,” were constructed of 0.03-inch (0.7-mm) RHEINZINK blue gray zinc.

The Pierre Construction Group, based in Stone Mountain, Georgia, installed the double-lock standing-seam shelter covers, and the zinc panels were curved on-site.

“The choice of RHEINZINK for this project will save the Marta system money,” said Blaine Gardner, V.P of Operations at MetalTech-USA. “Zinc is self-weathering and selfhealing, with no maintenance needed over the lifetime of the shelter covers. They’ll never need to be painted.”
