Zinc supports school expansion

Photo: Gilbertson PhotographyStantec Inc. designed the exterior of an expansion and renovation project for St. Gabriel's Catholic School in Austin, Texas, with zinc panels, in part, for the material's recyclability.

Port Enterprises Ltd. installed 1,843 square feet of Umicore Building Products USA Inc.'s 8-inch-wide VMZ Interlocking panels in PIGMENTO Green and 1,772 square feet of 12-inch-wide VMZ Interlocking panel in PIGMENTO Green for the project, which was completed in April 2016.

The $6.6 million, 30,000-square-foot project renovated 10,000 square feet of existing space and expanded the facility with a chapel, science lab, multimedia library, additional classrooms, performing and creative arts spaces and athletic facilities. Approximately 445 students, pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, attend St. Gabriel's Catholic School.
