Hard Rock meets Cleveland’s rock history at Hard Rock Rocksino
The 200,000-square-foot modern Arena Rock-themed Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park merges gambling, live entertainment and dining seamlessly into one venue. Just south of Cleveland, the Rocksino features a 64,000-square-foot gambling area, a 2,600-seat live music hall and a Hard Rock Café. The themed facility meshes the classic Hard Rock brand with Cleveland’s rock history; visitors to the casino will recognize the priceless rock memorabilia scattered throughout the building. The facility opened its doors in early 2014, following an extremely fast-track construction schedule.
Architects at Richard L. Bowen & Associates, Cleveland, chose a variety of products from CENTRIA, Moon Township, Pa., for the project. The metal wall panels and column covers create a dramatic aesthetic with multiple colors, finishes and textures. Integration with the backup panels helped the product achieve significant performance ratings and meet sustainability goals. Contractors were able to install 6,000 square feet of panels per day using CENTRIA’s simple installation process and integrated panel systems. This allowed them to enclose the structure faster and escape the harsh climate during the winter months.
The project starts with 90,000 square feet of CENTRIA’s 2-inch horizontal MetalWrap Series insulated composite backup panels, which were chosen for their performance and quick installation time. The MetalWrap system is a single thermal, air and moisture barrier backup panel. An all-in-one system, MetalWrap eliminates the need for conventional batt or board installation, exterior gypsum, and air, water and vapor boards. And, the system’s flexibility easily integrates with the building’s other materials.
“The general contractors like this system because you can enclose the building in one pass and it’s ready for the finishes,” says Tom Brown, project manager at A.C. Dellovade Inc., Canonsburg, Pa., the dealer and installer. “It’s less labor intensive–that’s the bottom line.” CENTRIA and A.C. Dellovade provided single-source control for nearly the entire wall system, aiding in installation speed and overall reliability.
CENTRIA’s single-skin Concept Series concealed fastener metal wall panels integrate easily with MetalWrap, providing a clean, unbroken appearance. Architects specified 31,229 square feet of 22-gauge Concept Series CS-200 concealed fastener metal wall panels in Surrey Beige with a smooth Fluorofinish coating; 7,983 square feet of 22-gauge Concept Series CS-200 metal wall panels in Copper with a smooth Sundance Mica coating; 3,076 square feet of 22-gauge Concept Series CS-210 metal wall panels in Surrey Beige with a smooth Fluorofinish coating; 2,271 square feet of 22-gauge Concept Series CS-210 metal wall panels in Copper with a smooth Sundance Mica coating; and 1,788 square feet of 22-gauge Concept Series CS-260 metal wall panels in Surrey Beige with a smooth Fluorofinish coating.
For a stronger and flatter metal composite material
(MCM) panel, architects specified CENTRIA’s FormaBond panels, complete with pressure-equalized joinery and greater impact resistance. The casino’s sharp, crisp sight lines and sleek exterior were made possible with 3,208 square feet of Formabond 8-mm R&R horizontal aluminum composite material panels in Allusion Rust with a smooth Fluorofinish coating; 12,272 square feet of Formabond MCM wall panels in Copper with a smooth Sundance Mica coating; 1,599 square feet of Formabond horizontal MCM wall panels in Surrey Beige with a smooth Fluorofinish coating; and 1,539 square feet of Formabond 4-mm horizontal MCM wall panels in Wood Violet with a smooth Fluorofinish coating.
CENTRIA’s Profile Series Econolap Exposed Fastener Panels create a modern and edgy look and feel on the exterior of the Rocksino. To achieve this look, the design team used 2,309 square feet of 22-gauge Profile Series Econolap Exposed Fastener Panels in Surrey Beige with a smooth Fluorofinish coating.
Chosen for their aesthetic appeal, CENTRIA’s IW Series Concealed Fastener Profiles offer a clean, unbroken appearance. The project utilized 3,640 square feet of 20-gauge IW Series Concealed Fastener Panels IW-10 horizontal wall panels in Copper with a smooth Sundance Mica coating to match other featured CENTRIA products.
All of the CENTRIA products allowed for all-weather installation capability, an important factor when keeping the building schedule on track, significantly reducing long-term maintenance costs.
