This Miramar Courtyard by Marriott, Ocean City, Md., makes a splash in this seaside community with its clean, white façade that is dotted with turquoise glass on the balcony railings. Peter A. Fillat III, AIA, LEED AP, with Peter Fillat Architects, Baltimore, said his goal was to create a clean, simple design that reflected the Art Deco building that used to stand on the site.
Welcoming visitors to the new hotel is a Wind- Lok (MPS/MPV120) Soffit from ATAS International Inc., Allentown, Pa. About 21,000 square feet (1,951 m2) of the 0.032-aluminum panels in Ascot White were used, and Fillat noted that they add “sparkle” to the building.
The Captain’s Table restaurant is on the third floor of the hotel, and Miramar, a 12-unit condominium, is located on the building’s top level. This contemporary design gives guests a boutique hotel experience. The builder was M.L. Blades, Salisbury, Md., and the metal installer was Brothers Dryway, Salisbury. The project was completed in July 2009.
